Day One

The Nairobi OTB Chess Championship kicked off in time  with a participation of 262 players. The event was initially aimed to host only 200 participants but due to public demand, The organizers had to get a bigger venue to accommodate the extra registrations.

The Sections has the following composition:
Open - 128 Players
Ladies - 33 Players
Junior U8 & U10 - 38 Players 

Junior U012 & U14 - 40 Players
Junior U16 & U18 -  22 Players

The Juniors finished  all their rounds with amazing play from so many upcoming players.

Day 2

Day 2 saw the Open section start with quite some upsets in round 3 from several players one of them being The former National Champion; Joseph Methu who lost to The upcoming junior; Mcligeyo Robert.

After round 4 and 5 water had to find its level and the greatest question remained: Will the overall winner emerge from Kenya or Uganda? This is because the Last round was between Musasizi Emmanuel from Uganda and Hinga Githinji from Kenya who both had 5 points each. The match was really tight and whoever would win this match would be the automatic winner. However, after a hard fight by both players; the game ended in a draw and Githinji Hinga become the overall winner based on tie breaks.

In the ladies category, Gwen Jumba dominated the category and scored a whooping 6 points out of 6 rounds!
